About the Author

Historian, feminist, freelance rabble-rouser

When not otherwise occupied, Harriet Vain works in a library, providing helpful advice and technical services, whether they’re needed or not. She is currently trying to make herself even less employable by working on a doctoral degree.

She is a pro-choice, liberal, bleeding heart feminist.

She also likes glitter, cats, nail polish, and the color pink.

She does not believe that the two sentences above are in conflict at all.

Her literary heroines include Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Mary Shelley, Dorothy Sayers (and Harriet Vane), Edna St. Millay, Elizabeth Peters, Sarah Waters, and Mary Robinette Kowal.

She has literary heroes too.  She just doesn’t feel like listing them right now.

She has opinions on cheese.
